Suspended is an independent design studio focused on sculpture, objects, and spatial interventions.
Based in San Francisco, our studio explores the space between object and environment—creating works that introduce curiosity, movement, and visual relief into the spaces we inhabit.
At the center of the studio are Compositions: suspended sculptures made from canvas and thread. Beginning with quotidian materials, the work transforms the familiar into something eccentric, organic and
unexpected. Individual forms are brought together in clusters, creating sculptural environments that feel less like static objects and more like creatures inhabiting a space. Inspired in part by the natural beauty of California, Suspended is interested in forms that feel alive—objects that shift with their surroundings, interact with light and shadow, and remain slightly open to interpretation.
The work is developed and handmade in San Francisco's Mission District. Lightweight by nature, the sculptures can be arranged, suspended, and adapted to different architectural conditions. Scale, configuration, color, and suspension can all shift according to the space and the project.

At its core, Suspended is interested in possibility over permanence: objects that can exist in flux, spaces that
can be experienced differently, and forms that invite the viewer to pause and look again.
Alongside its own work, Suspended is building Friends of Suspended, an evolving collection of objects and works by artists, designers, and makers whose practices we admire.
Suspended is a place for things that haven't quite settled—objects and ideas held somewhere between structure and freedom, intention and chance, the familiar and the unexpected.

Suspended is based in San Francisco, on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone, the original inhabitants and stewards of the San Francisco Peninsula.
We acknowledge the enduring relationship between the Ramaytush Ohlone people and this land, and honor their ancestors, elders, and community members, past and present.
